The decision has been made. Your marriage or your relationship is coming to an end and your divorce is in the works. Now, perhaps more than at any other time in your life, you need to think clearly about money and your financial future. You will be making decisions that will affect the quality of your lifestyle for the rest of your life.
-Is an equal division of property the same thing as a fair division?
-How long, if at all, should alimony be paid?
-Who, if anyone, should keep the house?
These and many other financial questions are integral parts of any divorce settlement. Yet what is missing in most divorces is financial expertise. An attorney can help you understand your legal rights and opportunities. A therapist can help you understand your emotions and move on to the next phase of your life. But only a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst can help you evaluate and plan for the short and long-term financial consequences of your separation or divorce. This presentation will explain the different aspects and factors to consider in a divorce while dividing the assets of the couple. This presentation will teach Financial Planners how a financial plan for their clients, with divorce analysis and projected future planning after the divorce can help their clients in this very difficult time.

Jamie also works closely with attorneys, family counselors, mediators, and others to support the whole range of needs of clients during divorce, greatly increasing the likelihood of successful outcomes in even the most difficult situations. Jamie was in the first Collaborative Divorce training in the MD/VA/DC region, and has since participated in both as student and educator in Collaborative trainings and International Association of Collaborative Professionals’ meetings across the Country. She has also participated in divorce and advanced mediation training, including the Harvard “Beyond Yes” program.
